Film producer David Puttnam last night attacked the ‘forces of reaction’ at Westminster after peers refused to allow a new version of Tarzan to be filmed in the House of Lords.
Warner Brothers, the makers of the film, Tarzan The Untamed, had planned to use the ornate Chamber because in the original Tarzan Of The Apes novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the hero is the son of a British lord and lady. Facebook

This inter-planetary sci-fi adventure film, based on ‘A Princess of Mars’, with live action elements has over 2,000 visual-effects shots. American soldier John Carter’s (Taylor Kitsch) nephew reads his journal, which mentions how Carter came across a 12-foot-tall being called a ‘Thern’ and after killing him he finds a medallion which transports him to Barsoom (Mars).

Scientists have described the communications of chimpanzees and bonobos in new and unsurpassed detail, offering a lexicon for our closest living relatives and even a glimpse into the origins of human language.
The research, contained in two new studies published July 3 in Current Biology, focuses on physical gestures. These are the primary form of communication in bonobos and chimps, used more readily than vocalizations.

In the first systematic study of a non-human primate language, scientists from St. Andrew’s University have deciphered the meaning of 66 wild chimpanzee sign language gestures. Ranging from flirting requests to grooming instructions, the gestures may reveal how language evolves.

THE rumour-mill in Ashbourne has gone into overdrive over filming for the new Tarzan blockbuster which has come to Kedleston Hall.
The film stars Alexander Skarsgard, Samuel L Jackson and Margot Robbie but it is not clear who is at the stately home this week. The grounds have been shut off, with only the small entrance, off the main road, open.

Two years after planting a flag in the U.K. with the opening of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Warner Bros. will expand its facilities there with three new soundstages and an additional 100,000 square feet of office space.
WB announced the expansion at the same 10 Downing St. event where the studio announced that helmer David Yates’ new take on “Tarzan” — starring Alexander Skarsgard, Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz — began shooting today at Leavesden, joining Joe Wright’s “Pan,” which has been shooting there since late April.
Leavesden’s trio of new soundstages will consist of one 35,000-sq.-ft. building and two 17,000-sq.-ft. edifices, with along with adjacent office space. When the new spaces are completed at the end of this year, Leavesden’s tally of soundstages will rise to 13.

KEDLESTON Hall is rumoured to be playing host to cast and crew from Hollywood this week for the filming of a new movie.
It is understood that the attraction will be playing host to Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgard, Samuel L Jackson and Margot Robbie.
An insider has told the Derby Telegraph about the preparations for the filming that will mean the hall and grounds will be closed to the public until Friday.
The source said: “They’ve cleared out some of the rooms entirely and put their own furniture in them.”

In modern pop sci, no series has been able to capture the essence of time travel in the way Doctor Who has for the last 50 years. It should come as no surprise that scientists have taken the time to look into the feasibility of the physics driving time travel in whoovian mythology (*Spoiler alert* the TARDIS isn’t nearly as unscientific as it might sound).
The laws of physics do not strictly forbid traveling through time, but one must concede that the issue is blotted in uncertainty because of a plethora technological limitations and even more paradoxes. Now, researchers from the University of Queensland have purportedly simulated time travel. And the manner is likely not what you think it is…
The team was led by Martin Ringbauer, an author and a scholar from UQ’s School of Mathematics and Physics. They essentially combined tenets of two of the most immeasurably important theories that were ever put forth to describe the universe: General relativity and quantum mechanics. These theories that are seemingly contradictory (which caused Einstein to be fiercely skeptical of quantum mechanics, leading other scientists to eventually call this skepticism “Einstein’s biggest blunder”). General relativity describes the universe on a macroscale (from stars and galaxies, to black holes), while quantum mechanics describes the universe at a microscale (from photons and quarks, to molecules).

Singer Phil Collins has been cleaning house at his home in Switzerland, and Texas history is about to benefit.
Collins was scheduled to visit the Alamo on Thursday to announce that he is donating his collection of artifacts from the Alamo to the former mission and Texas revolutionary fort.
The 63-year-old singer-drummer wants to find places for some of his material legacy and wants to keep his Alamo collection together, said Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson.
