A team of researchers with NASA, Uppsala University, Columbia University and the Planetary Science Institute has created several simulations of conditions on Venus billions of years ago using Earth climate models and has found some instances that suggest the planet may at one time have been capable of harboring life. In their paper uploaded to the preprint server arXiv, the team describes their simulations and the factors they used in creating them.

A specially-equipped 747 has detected atomic oxygen in Mars’ upper atmosphere, NASA reported, marking the first time that the space agency has made that observation in four decades.
The California-based NASA plane that made the measurements is called the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, or SOFIA. NASA reports that using an instrument on board the plane, they found the atomic oxygen in the planet’s mesosphere, which is its upper atmosphere— but only saw about half of what they thought they would.

DailyMail reports on (yet another) strange Dome found on Mars:

There’s a set of UFO hunters who are convinced that Nasa is covering up the remains of an ancient civilisation on Mars.

In the hope of backing up their bizarre theory, they’ve spotted what they believe to be everything from military bunkers to coffins on the red planet.

Their latest ‘sighting’ of a rock by the Opportunity rover described as a ‘man-made dome’ that they say was left behind by an alien race sometime during Mars’ watery past.

Martian Life in Last Lake Found by Scientists?

A trio of scientists says they’ve identified the best place to look for evidence of ancient life on Mars — one of the youngest lake-bearing basins ever discovered.

Though Mars has no liquid water today, the Red Planet was submerged under vast oceans billions of years ago. And where there’s water, there’s the potential for life.

Could it be… John Carter?

The truth is out there … maybe. A mysterious woman-like shape in a picture taken by NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover is creating buzz on social media.

In a post entitled “Alien Woman on Mars Watching Rover From Hill” the UFO Sightings Daily website said that the shape “looks like a woman partly cloaked.”

Nasa Searches for Alien Life

A new bold initiavie has been started by NASA in hopes of finding signs of life on other planets. The new program is called NExSS and brings together a team of experts across numerous fields with hopes of analyzing over 1,000 planets outside our solar system.

“This interdisciplinary endeavor connects top research teams and provides a synthesized approach in the search for planets with the greatest potential for signs of life,” Jim Green, NASA’s Director of Planetary Science, said in a news release. “The hunt for exoplanets is not only a priority for astronomers, it’s of keen interest to planetary and climate scientists as well.”

Human Shadow on Mars?

Huffington Post posted another chilling story depicting an odd shadow next to a Nasa rover, oddly resembling a helmet-less human! Crisp hair on the top, air tanks on the back, the strange figure appears to be “messing with the rover” as the article points out. Could the alien be trying to intercept our rover? Or perhaps this proves the photo was not taken on Mars at all? Or maybe just a testament to our cognitive bias to interpret shapes as human silhouettes and faces. You be the judge!

Martian Life Erradicated by Nuclear Weapons

Yahoo has just reported:

NASA’s Curiosity rover is continuing to help scientists piece together the mystery of how Mars lost its surface water over the course of billions of years.

The rover drilled into a piece of Martian rock called Cumberland and found some ancient water hidden within it. Researchers were then able to test a key ratio in the water with Curiosity’s onboard instruments to gather more data about when Mars started to lose its water, NASA officials said. In the same sample, Curiosity also detected the first organic molecules it has found. Mission scientists announced the discovery in a news conference today (Dec. 15) at the American Geophysical Union’s convention in San Francisco, where they also unveiled Curiosity’s first detection of methane on Mars.

This is an unfortunate turn of events. The Australian International Business Times has reported that life on mars has been wiped out with the use of nuclear technology, according to plasma physicist Dr. John Brandenburg. In his research paper he claims that an advanced alien civilization has launched two nuclear bombs targeting early Martian life for being too young and noisy. He cautions that Earth could be next in line!
