Carson Napier was the son of a British army officer and an American girl from Virginia. Born in India while his father was stationed there, Carson was brought up under the tutelage of an old Hindu mystic, who taught him the arts of telepathy and mental projection. After the passing of parents, Carson took up a life of recklessness. Bored with life, he became interested in rocket cars and hatched a plan to build a spaceship and travel to Mars, but a miscalculation landed him on Venus instead. On strange, exotic Amtor, as the inhabitants called his adopted planet, Carson learned again to love life. There, on a barbaric world of swords and ray guns, giant spiders, winged men, and forests of miles-high trees, Carson fought for and won the hand of Duare, princess of Vepaja, built the planet’s first airplane, and became prince of a land named Korva. But his adventures were only beginning…
